Let's start. 😎

How to Install Fonts?

  1. You've probably downloaded your font from a website like Google Fonts or DaFont. Then, the installable font files would be in a ZIP archive. So, you need to extract them to Desktop first.

  2. Right-click on the ZIP file that you've downloaded, then click Extract All.Extract Fonts

  3. Choose the location where fonts will be extracted by clicking Browse and ensuring that "Show extracted files when complete" option is checked. Click Extract button.
    Choose Location

  4. After fonts are extracted, the container folder will be open automatically like the one below.

  5. Select all fonts that you want to install, then right-click one of them while all are selected and click Show more options. You'll see right-click menu is extended.
    Show More Properties

  6. If you want to install fonts only for the current user, click Install. Otherwise, click Install for all users. In both cases, fonts will be available for the current user.
    Install all fonts

  7. If the fonts are already installed on your PC, you'll see the alert pop-up window saying "The 'Font Name' font is already installed. Do you want to replace it?". If your fonts are broken, and you want to replace them, click Yes. Otherwise, click No and close the windows.

  8. Windows Fonts will install them rapidly.

  9. Congratulations! Your new fonts are available to use now. If you use a program like Adobe Photoshop or something like that and don't see the installed fonts, restart the program. Then try again.

How to List, Preview and Uninstall Available Fonts?

  1. Open Start Menu and type Font settings. Then click on it on the search results.

  4. Here, you see the preview of different faces (Regular, Bold, Italic, etc.) of your font. You can type a text whatever you want to preview in the text box saying "Type here to preview font.". You can also change the font size by sliding Change font size slider.

Where and How to Download Fonts?

There are so many font download websites. However, I'll share my favorites and Microsoft Store's font section here.

1. Microsoft Store

  1. Open Microsoft Store by searching for it on Start Menu.

  2. Type Fonts on the Microsoft Store Search, then click on Fonts I've marked on the image below.
Search for Fonts on MS Store

  3. You see all available fonts in this list. There aren't so many fonts on MS Store for now, but when Windows 11 is released, there will be more options for us.

  4. Click on the font what you want to install.

  5. You see the font's details and its preview here.

  6. Click Free to start the installation and wait.
    Download Font

  7. After the downloading finishes, click Lunch.
    Launch the Downloaded Font

  8. You can see to confirm whether the font is downloaded correctly by searching for its name on Available Fonts list.
    Confirm the Font Installation

2. Google Fonts

Google Fonts is also a good and valuable font directory for us. Unlike Microsoft Store, you need to install fonts that you download from Google Fonts manually, as I've explained How to Install Fonts? section above.

  1. Go to https://fonts.google.com/.

  2. You can search available fonts on Google Fonts by using the search box, or you can filter by a category, language, or font properties as I marked.

  3. To go to the download page and see font details, click on a font you want to download.

  4. Here, you preview different faces of the font. To download it, click Download family.
Download Font Family from Google Fonts

  5. You'll have the ZIP file containing all faces of the font family. Follow the steps How to Install Fonts? section above to install them.

  6. That's all.

Conclusion

I've explained where and how to download fonts and install, uninstall, list, and preview them in this guide.

I've shared only MS Store and Google Fonts with you in the download section because I think these are enough to explain how to download fonts. Still, if you need more font download website examples, please inform me by using the discussion form below.
